Those who explore El Frontón, at just 17 meters (56 feet) deep, will also benefit from a visit to the gorgeous, unspoiled beach of Playa Frontón, ideal for sunbathing, and snorkeling. The reef facing Frontón protects the beach–bring fins to spare your feet from sea urchins, and view the area’s abundant marine life and corals, including spotted eagle rays. More experienced divers can try to spot manatees, often spotted here as they graze on underwater foliage.
You get to the beach after a short boat ride from Las Galeras, and as you get closer, you know it´ll be awesome: a wide strip of sand crowded with coconut trees and flora, fenced with a 90-meter cliff. It´s a landscape that reminds me of The Philippines or some of Thailand´s southern islands, and that I haven´t seen in other places in the Caribbean. That makes it my favorite beach in Samaná. When getting into the sea, you have to beware of urchins. Well, you know paradise is not 100% perfect!
